Highly credible sources tell YWN Catskills that a construction worker was walking between two units and fell into a trench, early Monday afternoon. He was attempting to climb out, when the trench collapsed around him, pinning him inside. The Monticello Fire Department was called, and a rescue operation was conducted, and the victim eventually removed. The Town Of Thompson Building Department was subsequently notified of the incident, and an inspector was dispatched to the scene. Shortly after, they realized that the resort was operating without a proper Certificate Of Occupancy (CEO).

The Town of Liberty has a strong and growing Latino population. Business owners in the community say although the bill is encouraging, they don't think more fencing is the answer. Judge Frank LaBuda appointed Lungen special counsel on Friday at District Attorney Jim Farrell's request. The longtime former DA will now assist Farrell throughout the trial. Lungen, now a private attorney in Monticello, agreed to work for no fee. "I don't think there is a person who I could pick who would have had a bigger impact than Steve," Farrell said, noting that Lungen has vast experience and "was the DA when the murder occurred."
